REGENT UPSTAIRS CINEMA

BIG SCREEN ENTERTAINMENT AT THE REGENT PAHIATUA

We are a community owned & operated cinema situated in the upstairs auditorium of the Pahiatua Regent Theatre .Opened by Kerridge Theatres on 23 February 1940 and now owned by the Pahiatua Repertory Society Inc., we are one of only three cinemas operating in the Wairarapa region. We are the only cinema in the Tararua District and the only cinema between Masterton & Waipukurau. We are a Registered Charity, with a part-time manager, staffed by volunteers. We have one 8.5 metre CinemaScope screen & seat 113 with stadium style seating. We screen every Thur Fri Sat & Sun with extra sessions during school holidays & when needed. We have projection systems to screen in 35mm film, E-Cinema/digital, & DVD formats, with5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

Both the Upstairs cinema and the Downstairs Theatre are available for private bookings and fundraiser events.

In August 2011 we launched a fundraising project to completely refurbish our cinema auditorium and to upgrade our projection system to a fully compliant DCP digital system. Comfortable new seats have recently been installed and the walls are now lined with acoustic panels and drapes, which improves not only the appearance but also greatly improves the digital sound quality. We are also very pleased to announce that thanks to a very generous grant from the Waireka Community Trust we can now offer patrons with a disability or in a wheelchair or mobility scooter easy and safe access to our upstairs auditorium. The process of up-grading the auditorium is continuing.

If you would like to find out more about our up-grade project or you would like to support this project, or join our volunteers group please email us at: regentpahiatua@xtra.co.nz or phone the manager on 06 376 8441.
